CHARLES SCOTT (Director)
Back in 1973 Charles Scott came to work for Harnett
and Richardson of Bermuda, a company that was soon to
become Macbeth Scott & Co. He had previously
worked as a management trainee for General Accident,
all a far cry from his first job at Lipton’s in
Kendal for which he was paid £7 a week! In his spare
time, Charles enjoys sailing, rowing, squash, travel
and rugby. It was his love of rugby and travel which
bizarrely led to him gaining an international cap
whilst playing at full back for the Barbados rugby
team at the age of 39. If you want to know the full
story, you’ll have to ask him! Charles lists “The
39 Steps” as his favourite film and “The
Avengers” (the original version) as his favourite TV
show. He would love to have dinner with Patrick
McGoohan of “The Prisoner” fame.

STEFAN BILLINGTON (Director)
Stef joined Macbeth Scott in February 2000, following
over 15 years insurance experience with companies such
as Provincial and AIG. It was in fact at Provincial
where he began his working career as a motor claims
handler. Stef deals primarily with commercial
customers and gets real satisfaction from seeing how
happy our customers are with our service and advice.
You may have seen Stef in and around Cumbria as he
plays guitar for a popular local band, and it is his
love of music which would determine his ideal dinner
guest; namely Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top! Aside from
his music Stef enjoys spending time with his family
and films such as “The Truman Show” and “The
Shawshank Redemption”.

DUNCAN MACBETH
Duncan Macbeth was a founding director of Macbeth Scott &
Co. way back in 1972 having previously worked as an
agency inspector for Royal and Provincial. All this a
far cry from his humble beginnings as an insurance
clerk for Law Union and Rock in Glasgow, where one of
his jobs was to stoke up the boilers for the central
heating! Having seen many changes to the market over
the years, Duncan particularly enjoys being able to
explain insurance principles and making it more
"user friendly" to our customers. In the
spare time he has away from the office Duncan enjoys
travelling to watch major golfing events and rugby
union and enjoys the books of Robert Ludlum as well as
the odd spot of DIY. Back in 1965, after leaving work
for the day Duncan bumped into a bunch of mop haired
Liverpudlians in the car park and spent a few moments
chatting with none other than The Beatles!

KEVIN STEPHENSON
Kevin,
or “Kev” as he is known is one of a trio of
Lancastrians here at Macbeth Scott, although he
originally and proudly hails from Holme village. Kev
has many years experience having worked for insurers
such as AXA, RAC and Allianz-Cornhill but enjoys the
more personal approach we have here. This allows him
to talk to people from all over Cumbria and from many
walks of life. A big sports fan, Kev has played
cricket at county level and still trots out for his
beloved Holme from time to time in between following
Manchester United and avidly watching episodes of his
favourite comedy “Dad’s Army”. His claim to
fame? He once met Eric Cantona on Lake Windermere!!

CHRIS MOORE
Chris
has been working here as our accounts man since 2005
after 22 years insurance experience working for Royal
London in his hometown of Warrington. As you would
expect from a Warringtonian, Chris is an avid follower
of rugby league and holds a season ticket for
Warrington Wolves. He is also a keen Crystal Palace
fan. As a younger man, Chris excelled at various
sports and was able to run 100 metres in under 11
seconds! His favourite movie is “Dirty Harry”, his
first job was as a shelf stacker at Lennon’s in
Warrington and he would most like to have dinner with
the controller of rugby league referees! He also makes
a cracking cup of coffee.

SOPHIA ROBINSON
Originally
from York, Sophia has been with Macbeth Scott since
2008, having previously worked within the tourism
industry. She enjoys the daily challenges that her
work presents and gets a buzz out of problem solving.
Not being a lover of the often inclement Cumbrian
weather, Sophia enjoys travel and recently spent some
time in Cuba where she may have had her eye on some
real estate, as she is also interested in property
development. Her favourite film is “Breakfast at
Tiffany’s”, and her favourite book is “Lord of
the Flies”. She once performed in front of 2000
people, singing the Dexy’s Midnight Runners classic
“C’mon Eileen”.

BEV PERRIN
For
many, Bev’s is the first friendly voice they will
hear or the first friendly face they will see when
they contact us here at Macbeth Scott & Co. Her
“front of house” position allows her to meet and
engage with many different people from many walks of
life, meaning that no two days are ever the same, and
it is this aspect of her job that she enjoys the most.
Bev’s first ever job was as a canvasser for a local
newspaper, though she was later to become a
professional singer and dancer! In her spare time Bev
enjoys playing badminton, a bit of DIY, especially
wallpapering, and likes to watch historical films,
period dramas and the occasional “chick flick”.

PAUL COWLEY
Paul is in short “a walking encyclopaedia” when it comes to
insurance. His vast knowledge has been gained over 21
years whilst working for companies such as Norwich
Union and General Accident, though his early career
involved selling fruit and veg’ off the back of a
barrow on Walthamstow market! In his spare time Paul
enjoys spending time with his children and following
his beloved Leyton Orient, although as his chosen team
are rarely on the TV these days he is happy to watch
proper football teams as well. Michael Caine is
Paul’s favourite actor and someone he would be happy
to have around for dinner, perhaps whilst watching
“Get Carter” or “Only Fools and Horses”.

PAUL BAILLIE
Paul is our newest recruit and brings with him a
wealth of experience from companies such as AXA and
RAC, not to mention a stint as a driving instructor
for the AA. Paul, who is also from Lancaster,
particularly enjoys interacting with customers and
striving to find them the most suitable level of cover
for their needs, and at the best price. In his spare
time he is an ardent Preston North End fan, and lists
his main dislike as Burnley FC! As well as watching
football, Paul likes to play football with his son.
This helps to keep him fit as does his love of
cycling. He may want to stay “in shape” as his
claim to fame is that he once accidentally pushed over
Ricky Hatton in a nightclub!

EAMONN HENNESSY
Originally
from Lancaster, Eamonn has previously worked for RAC,
Allianz-Cornhill and AXA but his first ever job was as
a trainee accountant for a renovations company. Here
at Macbeth Scott, Eamonn particularly enjoys playing
his part in the ongoing development of our customer
communications, and the range of products we can
offer. In his spare time Eamonn enjoys the outdoors
and is a keen birdwatcher as well as an accomplished
musician who has sold his music for use on several
Canadian TV shows. All this leaves little time for his
passion for pub quizzes, reading and the television
show “QI”, not to mention his beloved Manchester
City. Kate Winslet and Frank Zappa would be his ideal
dinner guests.
